XRive

XRive aims to develop eXtended Reality (XR) applications for drivers to help them test, train, and familiarize themselves with the new technologies. Feedback from trained users—both passive and active—will be utilized by the automotive industry to redesign Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and XR-based ADAS to meet user requirements. This approach fosters a human-in-the-loop industrial design that benefits both end users and the industry, with a strong educational aspect towards tailored-made solutions.
Social impact and outcomes:
- The reduction of deaths, severity of crashes, and number of accidents caused by distracted driving.
- Minimizes the need for physical prototypes, reducing material waste and energy consumption.
- Improvement of driving experience and change the “need to travel” to: “wish to travel”.
- Improved safety due to collaborative awareness in cooperative driving.
- Increase the feeling of trust and acceptance of drivers for the new technologies of XAI and AR.
Title: XRive: Immersive XR Training Applications for Human-Centric Safety and Innovation in the Automotive Industry
Running dates: April 2024 – January 2026
Programme: HORIZON EUROPE – XR2LEARN PROJECT
ID number: GA 101092851 – HORIZON-CL4-2022-HUMAN-01
Objectives:
- Create XR training tools that combine car controls with new XR features.
- Collect feedback from users to make the systems better.
- Help drivers be safer, more aware, and more comfortable with new connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) technology.
- Build XR apps that teach drivers how to use XR-based car systems and driver assistance features.
- Use driver feedback to keep improving the systems.
- Make new car technology easier to trust, use, and feel safe with.
