Bridging Generations: Pilot Workshop on Intergenerational Dialogue

ΙnterMediaKT visited Frodizo NGO for the pilot testing of the “Bridging Generation” EU project educational toolkit.

In a 2+ hours workshop, beneficiaries from Frodizo had the chance to get informed about the project and test the tools from the Toolkit. The pilot tested four (4) intergenerational dialogue tools in a two‑part session where young adults (18–30) and older adults (65+) worked separately on power, stereotypes, and communication styles between generations.

Young adults learned to identify where they feel they have more or less influence in workplace‑like situations and how small shifts in language can increase clarity and respect. They also practiced transforming implicit biases about older people into open questions that invite dialogue instead of conflict.

Older adults recognized their own stereotypes about young people, connected current youth challenges (e.g. cost of living, job insecurity, mental health, climate anxiety) to struggles they faced when they were young, and identified shared values and emotions across generations. They also practiced shifting from a “power” role (“I know better”) to a more collaborative stance when learning from younger people.
