DigiTrans
Objectives:
The structure of the project has been designed towards generating a positive impact on the target groups in each partner’s regional context (Lower Saxony – Germany, Sardinia – Italy, Patras – Greece, Brittany – France).
Many hundreds of rural stakeholders acquire the knowledge, skills, and, most importantly, confidence, to further develop digital innovation. Thus, the desired impact of this project is to nurture a new generation of digital pioneers all over rural Europe.
In the long term and at the EU level, we hope to achieve even more ambitious goals visible in such indicators as an increasing number of regions engaging in ‘smart’ strategies or a growing body of ‘smart’ projects successfully implemented. In other words, we strongly believe that rural Europe can come together as a Smart Region in mind and action.

Rural Europe’s future in the 21st century will be defined by its ability to engage with digital innovation. Many regional stakeholders have anticipated this and proactively initiated ‘smart’ strategies. Yet, these initiatives remain bound to a local level and thus cannot unfold to their maximum potential.
That is why the project at hand aims to network rural stakeholders from different European regions on a collaborative online platform in order to co-design, co-develop, and complement digital innovation within a previously developed Smart Region Framework.
As a result, the digital transformation of rural areas will gain recognition as a common European challenge that can only be addressed by connecting rural actors in terms of the European-wide rural Smart Region.
