ESC volunteering team in Patras in October
The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) continues inspiring young people to engage in meaningful European projects. The ESC promotes social inclusion, diversity, and youth empowerment through volunteering and community-based initiatives. One recent project, which lasted a month, brought together an international team of young volunteers to contribute to impactful activities at InterMediaKT.
Over four weeks, these dedicated volunteers embarked on a journey filled with learning, creativity, and community-building. The first week began with informative presentations on youth opportunities, followed by strategic planning for the upcoming “Time to Move” event. The Time to Move campaign, which takes place every October, is a Europe-wide initiative organized by the Eurodesk network, featuring both virtual and in-person events. Given the timing, InterMediaKT was pleased to take part in this important campaign, aimed at connecting young people with resources and opportunities for mobility, education, and personal growth.
The second week was about podcasting for the “Keep Dreaming” project, where the team recorded four new episodes. These episodes focused on mental health awareness, exploring the challenges of seeking help and emphasizing why understanding mental health is so crucial. The podcasts also highlighted how mobility can transform perspectives, offering practical advice and relatable stories on preparing for new adventures and finding a sense of belonging in new places. This experience allowed volunteers to create meaningful content that resonated with listeners, offering both inspiration and practical advice for personal growth.
Alongside this, the volunteers organized an Eco Day, where they actively contributed to the local community by cleaning areas around Patras. This initiative not only raised awareness about environmental responsibility but also reinforced the importance of sustainable community action.
In the third week, the focus shifted to discussions on migration and mobility. Volunteers examined the importance of mobility, not just as a physical experience, but as a cultural and social exchange that fosters understanding and inclusivity. The volunteers explored how migration affects communities and how mobility programs provide invaluable experiences for young people across Europe.
The project culminated in the fourth week with the much-anticipated “Time to Move” event. Designed to inform and engage young people, the event introduced them to a myriad of opportunities. The volunteers played an active role in organizing and delivering the event, helping young people discover how to navigate opportunities for education, mobility, and personal development.
Together, these international volunteers demonstrated the power of collaboration, learning, and community engagement. Their efforts not only strengthened their skills but also enriched the local and global community. At InterMediaKT, we continue to be inspired by the passion and dedication of our volunteers, as they keep dreaming, connecting, and shaping a brighter future.
