Holding a Bachelor degree in “Physical Education” from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science in Greece and a Master in “Organization & Administration of Sport” from Springfield College, Massachusetts, Dimitris Gargalianos received a PhD in “Sport as an international relation of Greece” from the University of Thrace in 1996. Meanwhile, he has obtained a BA degree in “International Relations of Sports” from Panteion University as well as a Graduate Diploma in “Communication Management”. Being always active, open-minded and ready to seize new opportunities, his work experience includes five years in SEGAS as a technical consultant in training and statistics and two years in the General Secretariat of Sports in Athens as a consult-ant for international relations. In addition, he is a founding member of the Greek Hellenic Sport Management Association (ELLEDA), being its chairman from 1993 to 1999.
He has experience in the organization of Olympic Games by closely following the organization of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 and cooperating with OEOA, as a Director of Communications and the United States Olympic Committee as Athens Liaison for the 2004 Olympic Games. His life expertise led him in the publication of three books “Sports and Foreign Policy”, 1998, “Sports facilities”, 2006, “Sports in Local Government”, 2008 and the co-ordination of the publication of three more “Sports Management”, 1997, “Sports Manage-ment – Interdisciplinary Approach”, 2002, and “Structure and Organization of Hellenic Sport”, 2006. He has extensive research experience with scientific papers and articles published at national and international journals. Today he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of Komotini, teaching “Organization and Administration of Sports”.
