I think different colors and sounds should be used to be able to differentiate. An easy, fast and safe way to disable should be a button on/off and maybe a simple oral command.
antonelako
A simple straightforward sound and text message saying "AI assistant is taking control now". It should be as fast as turning on and off the lights or the windshields, but also, making sur that I do not accidentally press/click on it, while doing something else (like using the indication lines).
Adessa
The dashboard should make it obvious at a glance for example one colour when suggesting (ex yellow) and another colour when taking control (ex green). To turn it off there could a natural movement that can be done while driving but not something hidden on the screen menu for example.
Nancy
With the press of a button you have easy access.
Anaïs
It should be a visual signal, or maybe a sound. Especially if AI takes over.
To turn it off we should be able to press a button on the dashboard or steering wheel
Clémence
For the dashboard, I think a clear color code would work well : green when the AI is advising, orange or red when it's actively taking control. Something visible at a glance, without having to read anything.
For turning it off, I imagine a dedicated button on the steering wheel, similar to how you answer or reject a call. But it should require a deliberate action, like holding it for one or two seconds, so you don't accidentally disable it by brushing it.
Nikos Matsankos
I prefer giving me advices like a GPS system, with simple signals and noise signs with really smooth speech. I don’t want the AI system to take the control of the car even if it is a really urgent situation. It is better to take separate actions like slow don’t the speed of the car, give me alerts for the lane road, etc. The best way to turn of is with audio speech or if not possible with a simple button in the car steering wheel.
Yacoub
Havind different modes maybe and you choose manually
effy
I DO NOT DRIVE SO COULD NOT HELP
Kylian Yokadouma
There could be a small yellow symbole on the dashboard when the AI is taking control. An easy and safe way to turn off the AI could be to have a button such as the speed limitation that you would push to turn on/off the AI.
Lara Ximenes Coelho
I struggle to imagine something which I have never tried but I believe it is fair to get a notification like “would you like to turn off AI assistance?”.
Aliki
I’d like the dashboard to use simple colors—maybe a steady blue light when it’s just giving advice, and a flashing orange light with a quick beep when it actually steps in to drive. To turn it off, there should definitely be a physical button on the steering wheel, or it should just hand control back to me the second I tap the brakes or move the wheel myself.
Alex Vasilopoulos
Having a specific button designed for this activity would be ideal. When starting the car , the software would ask you what option you prefer. It could have a red light , when off , and a green one when on.
Isslem
Clear words would achieve this to figure if the AI is giving advice or taking control.
Easy, fast, way to turn off the AI would be to be able to talk to it to turn off AI feature. Or just a simple button that requires one click in order not to lose concentration for safety reasons.
Aristidis Antonopoulos
Simple … Having a simple button with heavy color lights will gives you full control
Charis
By giving me an "Auto Pilot" indication or "Suggestion" maybe different colour background for different kind of indications as well. when i interact with the steering wheel i would like to immediately have complete control of the vehicle or if i press the gas pedal, when i take control i also want the AI to slowly release a bit of gas until i press the gas pedal only if i want to break should it release completely the gas by it self and this should probably be handled by hardware
Yuri
In general I don't want the AI to automatically take control unless is a serious emergency. In case I want to turn the assistance on I imagine a button (a real one that I can find without looking, not something on a screen like in many newer cars) and a sound signal confirming it.
Aspasia
A pop up message and a sound when AI is taking control or suggesting something, would be ideal for me. A safe way to turn it off is a button for or even to have two options in case that something will not work. Like first an oral order to be fast and if it will not work to have a on/off button
Marilda
The dashboard should use a clear sound and visual message to show when the AI is taking control or only giving advice. There should also be an easy-to-reach button or switch to turn the AI off quickly while driving. The system should also be accessible for people with disabilities.
Irene Ioannidou
The dashboard should clearly show the difference between AI advice and AI control with simple messages, colors, and icons, for example “AI warning: lane drifting” versus “AI steering assistance active.” To turn off AI assistance safely, I would prefer a large physical button on the steering wheel or dashboard, because it is faster and safer than searching through a touchscreen while driving. The system should confirm immediately with a message or sound notification.
Irene Safaka
The dashboard should clearly show whether the AI is giving advice or taking control using different colors and simple messages. To turn off AI assistance, there should be a dedicated button on the steering wheel that instantly returns full control to the driver.
Dimitris
Show an additional AI Assistance Icon, change colors when operating situations change. The safest way in my option is through easy access, no more than two moves, physical or digital buttons.
Danai
When AI takes control, it should display a red notification warning on the dashboard. When it is just offering advice, it should appear as a simple message. A fast way to turn off the AI assistance is with a button on every car screen to quickly turn it off if it's necessary.
Giannis
A clear animation accompanied with audio notification. Maybe add some vibration on the steering wheel or the driver's chair.
Evangelos Konsoulas
For the driver to instantly understand the status of the AI, the information must be separated based on location, color, and symbolic graphics. That is, the interface design in an AI vehicle is key to avoiding the so-called "operation confusion."
Jerry
The dashboard should clearly distinguish between “AI advice” and “AI intervention” using simple labels, colours, and audio cues. For example: “Advisory mode” vs. “Assistance active”. Turning off AI assistance should be possible through a visible steering-wheel or dashboard button, with one clear confirmation, without complex menus while driving.
Christina D
AI should be used ONLY upon the agreement of the user. It should never just be the default choice to be on. A simple button on the driver's dashboard would be an efficient and direct solution. Additionally, there could be written short warnings on the driver's screen, for example: "AI assistance / mode on", "AI advice: do x", "AI taking over on X".
Osman
The dashboard should clearly show the AI mode with simple messages like “AI Advice Only” or “AI in Control.” The driver should be able to turn off AI assistance quickly with a physical button on the steering wheel. Braking or steering strongly should also return full control to the driver immediately.
Tara
There should be a sort of warning light on the dasboard for AI, same as for low fuel or if something is wrong in the car. And AI should have its own button somewhere in the car, easily accessible, that would let you enter setting and turn it on/off quickly
Maria
I would prefer colorful messages and audio signals. to disable it a simple button will be enough
Leafu Matei
I think a diffrent colour for each mode would be a good idea, while a button for turning the AI system off should pe place somewhere near.
Sirin
The car's instrument panel should have an indicator for both controls. Whichever feature is active should be shown on the instrument panel. I think an easy and safe way to turn off AI assistance while driving could be with a key or button inside the car. AI assistance would turn on when the driver unlocks the car, and off when the driver unlocks it. During this process, the driver would be informed of the action via voice commands.
Ertuğrul
It may be oral commands like "disable ai" or " ai is taking the control now". Also there can be buttons too. I do not think that buttons are useless for that function and they are distractive. So, buttons can be used too.
Afaaq Ahmad
How should the dashboard show if the AI is advising or driving?
Use clear colors and simple words.
Gray: You are driving.
Yellow: AI is giving advice.
Green: AI is helping drive.
Show a short message like "AI is steering" or "You are in control."
How should you turn off AI while driving?
Have one easy-to-reach button on the steering wheel.
Press it once to turn off AI assistance.
The screen should show "AI off. You are driving."
The driver should always be able to take cont
Jmay
The dashboard should show a clear message. To turn it off, there should be one simple physical button on the steering wheel or dashboard that I can press quickly while driving.
Alkinoos
Personally I would prefer to have full control oh the vehicle at all times except for situations like emergency braking. If for whatever reason the ai must take control I would like an obvious signal like a flashing light and notification sound. Other than that when advising there doesn't need to be any extra information
Gerasimos
The dashboard should use different colors or icons to show if the AI is advising or controlling the car.
I would like a clear “AI OFF” button that is always visible and easy to press.
Costa
The dashboard should change color, maybe turn blue when the AI is taking control. To turn it off, I just want to tap the brakes or grab the steering wheel firmly. It needs to be instant and natural, without forcing me to navigate through digital menus.
Marieta
A clear icon or a flashing light on the screen should show when the AI is actively driving. Turning it off should be as simple as pushing a dedicated physical button right on the steering wheel, accessible without looking away from the road.
Panos Antonopoulos
I want a bright text notification on the main display saying "AI Active." The fastest way to override it is just by steering manually; the system should instantly back off and return full control to me the moment it feels my hands moving the wheel.
Eirini
There should be a distinct audio chime when the AI switches from advising to taking control. A prominent, physical button on the dashboard is the safest and most reliable way to shut the system down completely in an emergency.
Dennis Rodis
The screen should have a dedicated status bar that changes from green (advice) to orange (control). For safety, a quick voice command like "AI off" should instantly deactivate the assistance and give me back full manual control.
Aris Geo
The steering wheel should vibrate slightly when the AI takes over control. To turn it off, hitting a specific wheel switch should immediately disconnect the system. The driver must always remain the final decision-maker.
Mark Jones
A prominent icon on the dashboard should light up when the AI takes active control. Regaining control should happen automatically the moment I press the accelerator or turn the wheel myself, overriding the software instantly.
Dimitris Theodoropoulos
The dashboard layout should change completely when the AI is in control so there is no confusion. A dedicated physical button right next to the steering wheel is the only safe way to ensure I can shut it off instantly.
Kostakis
Use clear color coding—green for advice, red for control—paired with a soft sound alert. A simple, fast voice override or just tapping the brake pedal should immediately return full control to the driver.
Eri
A dedicated message pop-up on the instrument cluster should clearly state "AI Controlling." Pushing a physical button on the steering wheel is the best and most reliable override mechanism to avoid accidental activation.
Eleni
The dashboard border could glow when the AI takes over. Natural movements, like applying pressure to the steering wheel or braking, should immediately deactivate the autonomous assistance safely.
Athanasia
The dashboard should feature a highly visible icon and an audio chime when control shifts. A physical override switch on the center console ensures a fast, reliable shutdown if the AI misbehaves.
Serdar
Clear visual notifications combined with haptic steering wheel feedback are ideal. An easily reachable physical button ensures you can turn off the assistance without looking away from the road for even a second.
